ESACH Quarterly Magazine (Issue n°2) Our Team is currently working on the issue n°2 of The ESACH Quarterly! This is our digital magazine that aims to expand the knowledge-sharing of youth-led approaches to Cultural Heritage. If you haven't done so yet, you can read our first issue right here. For the second issue, we are welcoming different types of submissions: academic papers, creative stories, interviews, or other heritage-related spatial projects. You can read all the guidelines on our website. Don't miss the chance of having your paper published with us! Deadline: 30th September 2021.  Member Survey: What now? The impact of Covid-19 on cultural heritage students and steps forward Last month ESACH launched its very own member survey to better understand how the pandemic's situation has affected the lives of young heritage professionals in Europe. Since the heritage field has been one of the most deeply affected by lockdowns and travel restrictions, our team wants you to have a say in the activities and strategies that we will develop in the upcoming months. We sincerely believe that getting to know our members' experiences is the key to a better and faster recovery!  #HeritageAmbassadors and the European Heritage Tribune Our European Heritage Ambassadors have been sharing their inspiring experiences in the field of cultural heritage at the European Heritage Tribune. Since February they have been working as mediators between heritage students, young professions, and cultural heritage institutions. You can learn more about the activities and projects they are engaged with by searching the hashtag #heritageambassadors on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Linkedin  ESACH Blog ft. European Heritage Tribune Check out our latest ESACH blog reading recommendation featured on the European Heritage Tribune website! The article "Community Engagement for Cultural Heritage" by Sorina Neacsu is a case study on how volunteer work can increase community engagement in cultural heritage. The author uses her experience participating in European Heritage Volunteers projects and organizing two projects in Romania (2020 and 2021) as examples.  Partnership: Europa Nostra & Erasmus Student Network We bring great news for all the heritage students in Europe! At the end of June, Europa Nostra has formalized an exciting partnership with the Erasmus Student Network. The two institutions have come together to launch a project called Cultural Heritage on Erasmus, endorsed by the European Commission and the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education. Its biggest goal is to "make cultural heritage a greater part of the Erasmus experience while promoting Erasmus mobility opportunities for heritage students". ESACH will keep you updated on opportunities that might come from this project in the future! (all picture rights reserved to ESN)  ICOMOS Conference: Post-War Heritage of Art and Architecture in Central and Eastern Europe This month ICOMOS is holding a conference on Post-War Heritage of Art and Architecture in Central and Eastern Europe. The debates will deal with the sensitive topic of how to manage and safeguard sites that are related to unpleasant historical events or figures. The idea behind this initiative is that this type of heritage can be used to commemorate the resistance to war, tyranny, oppression, and genocide. The event will take place on July 22 and 23, and more information can be found here. (all picture rights reserved to ICOMOS)  ICOMOS Student Competition 2021: 1960 plus – Brutalism This year's biennial student competition proposed by ICOMOS Germany will focus on post-1960's architecture. ICOMOS is looking for works (in English or German) that can explain why brutalist buildings are worth preserving and also the valuable meanings that can be attributed to them. The submission deadline is September 27 and the winners will be awarded a 500€ prize! On June 14 the International Criminal Court (ICC) published their official Policy on Cultural Heritage. The initiative aims to be a decisive tool in the protection of cultural heritage in times of crisis, wars, and conflicts. This was a much-needed step in improving the safeguarding practices for both tangible and intangible heritage. Read the complete Policy on Cultural Heritage here.
