The European Students’ Association for Cultural Heritage (ESACH) invites applications for spin-off events, either online or in-person, centred on the five key principles outlined in our position paper, "Youth for the future of cultural heritage in Europe": Inclusion, Collaboration, Strengthening the Sector, Intergenerational Exchange and Dialogue, and New Technologies. The paper emphasises the importance of youth in preserving and promoting cultural heritage, especially in the face of climate change, and was developed as a follow up to the 2022 European Year of Youth. It aims to bring forward the priorities of youth for cultural heritage and highlights cultural heritage’s potential to foster social cohesion, professional resilience, intergenerational dialogue, and innovative technological integration. - Inclusion: Enhance social cohesion and a sense of belonging through participatory heritage processes, actively including civil society and youth.
- Collaboration: Promote flexible and inclusive collaboration models within the cultural heritage sector, incorporating informal networks and youth groups.
- Strengthening the Sector: Bolster the inclusivity and resilience of cultural heritage professions by advocating for fair internships, accessible junior positions, and youth involvement in decision-making.
- Intergenerational Exchange and Dialogue: Foster equal participation of different generations, facilitating opportunities for intergenerational connection and skill exchange.
- New Technologies: Leverage digital technologies to create new connections among cultural heritage, society, and professionals, providing accessible training and open access information.

Who can apply:
- University groups, NGOs, or peer networks with a strong interest in cultural heritage research, management, policy or advocacy;
- Organisers who can host events in academic settings, cultural institutions, community spaces, or other relevant (indoors or outdoors) spaces.
Event guidelines:
- Hosted online or in-person;
- Minimum duration of 1 hour;
- Focus on at least one of the five principles;
- Formats can include, without being limited to, conferences, workshops, seminars, panel discussions, or interactive sessions;
- Held in English or local language.

Submission Deadline is 31 December 2024 and the last day for the event is 31 January 2025 (All applications will be considered for the presentation at Youth Heritage Days, to be held in Spain, in March 2025, detailed announcement soon)

*“Youth Heritage Days” is a youth-led and youth-centred conference on cultural heritage and the effect triple transformation of this sector has on the rural areas, to be taking place in Spain in March 2025, within the framework of the European Heritage Hub. European Heritage Hub is an EU-funded pilot project connecting heritage stakeholders and initiatives across Europe to support the transition towards a more sustainable digital and inclusive society. Among its more specific objectives, the project stimulates networking, cooperation and knowledge-sharing; contributes to the mainstreaming of cultural heritage across key policies; is at the forefront of heritage-policy developments; promotes inclusive, diverse and participatory governance in the heritage ecosystem; and raises awareness on the importance of cultural heritage. Hispania Nostra and ESACH are coordinating activities related to the youth and promoting youth participation in the events and actions of the European Heritage Hub project.

- Successful applicants will be notified on a rolling basis and in a timely manner, within the week of the submission.
- Event organisers will be required to submit a short report detailing the outcomes and good practices of their events. A template will be provided and organisers will have a deadline of two weeks after the event to present the report (but no later than 15 February 2025).
- Based on these reports, a selection of organisers will be invited to present their examples of good practices at an in-person event organised by Hispania Nostra and ESACH, within the framework of the European Heritage Hub Pilot Project. This event will be held in March 2025 in Spain.
