Dear ESACH members and subscribers welcome back!

For November, we are proposing an exciting activity to bring all of our members together while actively reflecting upon cultural heritage: a "photography and visual arts" contest! As you scroll down, you will find more information on the initiative and how to be a part of it. Besides, we prepared an extensive description of our European Heritage Ambassadors' contributions to the Europa Nostra 2021 Cultural Heritage Summit and COP26 conference. Finally, we have also carefully selected promising opportunities, festivals, and seminars in the field of cultural heritage, such as the Conservation and Safeguarding Conference and the Festival of World's Cultural Expressions!

Take part in our new initiative: ESACH Members Photography and Visual Arts Contest!

As our community continues to grow, we are motivated to find ways of connecting members with each other to share their heritage-related experiences. That is why we are now opening a bi-monthly ESACH Members Photography and Visual Arts contest! For our first edition, we have chosen the topic "Climate Change and Cultural Heritage". We happily invite our members to send us a visual work related to the topic with a description of the content and a personal biography. We hope that by doing so we will enhance networking opportunities within our community and get to know each other better. You can easily submit your piece by filling up our online form. Don't miss the chance of having your visual work exhibited at our Newsletter!

#HeritageAmbassadors

In the past few months, our European Heritage Ambassadors have been actively involved in different heritage-related activities. At the end of September, we followed their contributions as panelists at the Europa Nostra 2021 Cultural Heritage Summit. According to the report of our Ambassadors at the European Heritage Tribune, the event set up a bridge between different generations who cooperatively discussed global issues in the context of heritage. The three main messages addressed by the Ambassadors at the Summit were: working towards a greener future, enhancing knowledge and practices exchange, and facilitating the participation of young Europeans in the cultural sector. Besides the European Summit, we have seen their engagement in other important events such as the COP26 (more information below!), their active presence in social media, their contribution to articles at the European Heritage Tribune, and their preparation of seasonal (winter vacation) surprises. Europa Nostra and Heritage Ambassadors contribute to UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow

The 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) has taken place from 31 October - 12 November in Glasgow. Our partner Europa Nostra was responsible for introducing the importance of cultural heritage-related climate action at the 15 heritage-related events that happened throughout those days. It is possible to access the sessions by visiting COP26's YouTube channel. Moreover, we are happy to say that some of our European Heritage Ambassadors were present at the conference, where they launched the Climate Heritage Network Youth Forum. This brilliant initiative is open to young people between 15 and 35 years old and aims to facilitate intergenerational learning and community engagement in global climate-heritage challenges. ICOMOS Webinar Series: Heritage Thursdays (Session 5)

ICOMOS' webinar series "Heritage Thursdays", which started on this year's first semester, aims to be a forum for debating methodologies and case studies on People-Centred Approaches. This month, the webinar will be dedicated to the topic of "Living Heritage and Climate Change" and will take place on 25 November. The registration is free and mandatory.

2021 International Festival of World's Cultural Expressions in Florence

The Life Beyond Tourism organization has launched the 1st edition of an international festival that aims to celebrate the different cultures of the world through cultural storytelling made by locals. Their biggest goal is to change tourism in hospitality for inclusiveness, solidarity, and intercultural dialogue. They hope to do so by making it possible to virtually visit the world through the eyes of locals and acquire a privileged look at the international tangible and intangible heritage. The event will take place on 25-26 November and you can register here.

Heritage Conference: Continuity in Care and Safeguarding

Since May, the Future for Religious Heritage Biennial Conference has been discussing the available applications for religious heritage in Europe. Their panelists investigate issues such as the traditional uses of religious heritage sites, their compatibility with mass tourism, their adaptation for the visit of the regular public, etc. Their next event, which will happen on 26 November, will deal with the topic: "Continuity in Care and Safeguarding". European Comission publishes a recommendation on a common data space for cultural heritage

The European Commission brings exciting news for heritage practitioners! According to Eureporter, at the beginning of this month, the Commission published a recommendation to create a common data space for European heritage with two main purposes: enhancing the protection and preservation of heritage at risk and strengthening the use of heritage in education, sustainable tourism, and cultural creative sectors. Museums, galleries, archives, and other institutions will be able to upload, share and rescue their digitalized heritage in high quality and even 3D models! The decision sounds extremely promising for the future of heritage and we will make sure to keep our members in the loop of any other related news!
