CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS
DEADLINE EXTENSION: 6 OCTOBER 2024
The European Student Association for Cultural Heritage (ESACH) is opening a call for contributions in anticipation of its forthcoming 2024 publication. As we commemorate the seventieth anniversary of the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, this milestone offers a pivotal moment to reflect on cultural heritage.
ESACH's 2024 publication will focus on cultural heritage and peace. We invite submissions from various disciplines that investigate the multifaceted role of cultural heritage during conflicts, including how it is affected, targeted, or preserved. We also seek contributions highlighting cultural heritage's importance in post-conflict recovery and reconciliation, examining how restoring and maintaining heritage can foster community healing, rebuild social cohesion, and support sustainable peace. We encourage examinations of the intersection between cultural heritage protection and human rights promotion.
Particular attention will be given to submissions focused on youth-led initiatives in cultural heritage preservation, showcasing successful projects and case studies that highlight the role and impact of young people. These submissions might explore how youth can actively preserve and safeguard cultural heritage to promote peace, reconciliation, and resilience in conflict-affected communities. We are interested in collaborative efforts and first-hand reports from direct partnerships between young people, cultural heritage professionals, youth-led organizations, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders. Submissions might also examine strategies to overcome barriers to youth participation and leadership in this field and explore how partnerships can enhance the sustainability of cultural heritage preservation efforts.
The publication welcomes diverse perspectives and approaches, ensuring inclusivity and openness to explore various themes and angles related to cultural heritage and peace.
Submission criteria and deadline
The Editorial Team welcomes original submissions from students, early-career professionals, and other relevant youth-focus stakeholders from diverse regions to foster dialogue with varied perspectives. We encourage submissions in diverse formats, including original research articles, case studies, reflective essays, policy analysis, youth-led project presentations, and exhibition reviews. ESACH also invites personal visual artworks such as photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, architectural and urban practices, digital media, handcrafted works, and similar forms of creative expression.
Submission deadline is extended to 6 October 2024. All applications must be emailed to [email protected] with a short author biography (around 50 words).
The submission should not have been previously published or concurrently under consideration by another journal.
Before presenting a submission, authors are highly encouraged to contact the Editorial Team to send proposals and pose specific queries.
