If so, we invite you to apply for the position of Editor-in-Chief at ESACH (European Students’ Association for Cultural Heritage), the Publications team.
About Us
ESACH is a dynamic network dedicated to amplifying student voices, providing a space for creativity, critical thinking, and expression, within the cultural heritage field. ESACH seeks to convey the Cultural Heritage Youth’s voice. As a fully volunteering-based organisation managed by a Coordination Committee, we witnessed a spike in audience and project diversity over the coronavirus pandemic, in 2020 and 2021. In 2023, ESACH’s team published a Position Paper, focusing on sustainability and the future of the cultural heritage sector "Youth for the future of cultural heritage in Europe".
Position Overview
As Editor-in-Chief, you will build and lead an editorial team in producing engaging and thought-provoking content. In cooperation with other members of the ESACH’s Coordination Committee, you will be responsible for guiding the editorial direction of the publication, fostering a collaborative environment among team members and ESACH’s programmes. A central part of the role is The ESACH Quarterly. You can read more about the initiative here and browse previous issues here. Besides The ESACH Quarterly, you will be encouraged to suggest new initiatives within your team. The work is remote and amounts to approximately 10 hours / week. In addition, there is the possibility to meet in person during different cultural heritage events across Europe.

Main responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for the publication, setting editorial priorities, themes, and goals.
- Build a Publications team as part of ESACH’s Coordination Committee.
- Oversee the planning, development, and execution of editorial content, ensuring relevance, quality, timeliness and management of the Publications team.
- Collaborate with other teams, such as Admin, Media & communications, Programmes, to enhance the overall impact and reach of the publication.
- Uphold ethical standards and academic integrity in all aspects of editorial decision-making and content production.
The ideal candidate would have:
- Strong writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Previous experience in (academic) writing, or editorial work.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to meet deadlines.
- Leadership experience, including team management, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Passion for storytelling and a commitment to amplifying diverse voices and perspectives within the network.
- Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and multimedia content creation tools.
- University enrollment.
- Minimum C1 level of English.
- ESACH membership.
