new technologiesAbout the Photograph: In the words of our photographer: "New technologies are impacting the world of historical preservation and heritage research. Today, learning to apply different tools and documentation techniques to assist heritage survey and research is also an important part of heritage professional education. As we passed from under the bridge, right there before me, I saw for the first time, the magnificent site of the Notre Dame. It gave me this estatic feeling, so much that I took off my warm jacket and danced. Many of the times I am unable to express the beauty of the place in words. At heritage sites, I sense the energy rising from the ground and hits my veins like electricity, so I dance! Dance photography in heritage sites is a way of rebranding heritage. It combines the beauty of the human body, the energy of movement, and the passion of the subject. I finished dancing to the song of its bell tolls in my head and smiled. I felt complete. The next day, Paris saw its first snow cover, for the first time in years. Little did I know that, in a few months time, that place will experience horror as the Notre Dame will burn down in flames. I watched it too, with the rest of the world. I paused, helpless. How lucky I was to experience that moment in time with a monument in all its glory. This picture is one for the books." About the Author: Rachel Bonnici is from Malta. She's passionate about heritage, dance, and the sea! Currently Master Student of World Heritage Studies at @btucs. World Heritage Challenges & OpportunitiesAbout the Art: "When we speak of " #WorldHeritage ", endangered cultures, both tangible and intangible, and natural species should be focused on as largely as the other heritages for its vulnerability towards modernization, conflicts, and the course of time. This visual collage art illustrates different segments of culture, nature, and people around the world that requires appreciation and appropriate action to protect their core values, culture, and environment to unite with other heritages of the world simultaneously." About the Author:
