About the Michael Culture Association (MCA)
The Michael Culture Association (MCA) is a European network of over 200 public and private organisations dedicated to preserving, promoting, and enhancing cultural heritage and digital cultural content. MCA supports cultural institutions and communities with knowledge, tools, and services, fostering cultural heritage as a foundation for inclusive and sustainable societies.
About the DE-BIAS Project
Funded by the Digital Europe Programme and implemented by a diverse consortium of experts, the DE-BIAS Project aims for innovative approaches to describing cultural collections that foster inclusivity and equity. The project addresses power imbalances by promoting co-creation with historically disadvantaged communities and advancing principles of social justice, democracy, and polyvocality.
DE-BIAS explores the presence of biases in cultural heritage metadata, examining concepts such as intentionality, dimensionality, and intersectionality to develop frameworks for identifying, mitigating, and preventing bias with the help of the AI-powered tool designed to detect and contextualise harmful language.
About the DE-BIAS Capacity Building Event
This online Capacity-Building event, co-organised by MCA, DFF and ESACH under the framework of the De-Bias project, will present the DE-BIAS project's main results, including methodologies, vocabulary, and de-bias typologies. In addition, an AI-powered debiasing tool will be introduced and tested with the audience.
This online event will take place on 11 December 2024 at 6 PM CET. Registration will be open until 10 December 2024 at 9 AM CET and you will receive the Zoom Link an hour prior to the event.
Please be aware that as part of the research project, all participants are kindly requested to complete a short 5-minute satisfaction survey after the event. Your feedback is invaluable to us!
