The European Student Association for Cultural Heritage (ESACH) is opening a call for contributions in anticipation of its forthcoming 2025 publication.
Each year, our magazine engages with cultural heritage through a distinct thematic lens, encouraging critical reflection and creative inquiry from emerging heritage professionals. For this edition, we invite contributions that respond to a central, multifaceted concept: transformation. Cultural heritage is far from a static archive of the past. It is a living, evolving process—shaped by transmission, contestation, and innovation. Heritage is co-produced across generations and deeply entangled with social movements, geopolitical shifts, environmental crises, diasporic experiences, and digital technologies. This issue is not simply a record of change, but a critical invitation to examine prevailing practices, question established norms, and explore emerging forms. We welcome proposals that explore how transformation redefines what heritage is, who it is for, and how it is practised, represented, or resisted. |
Submission Criteria and Deadline
The ESACH Team invites original and innovative submissions from students, early-career professionals, and youth-focused stakeholders from around the world to foster a dynamic exchange of diverse perspectives.
Written Proposals: We encourage submissions in a variety of written formats, including original research articles, case studies, reflective essays, policy analysis, presentations of youth-led projects, and exhibition reviews. These contributions should aim to engage with critical topics, offer insightful analysis, and contribute to ongoing dialogues in the field of cultural heritage.
Visual Proposals: In addition to written work, ESACH welcomes visual proposals that push creative boundaries. We invite personal artworks such as photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, architectural and urban practices, digital media, handcrafted works, and other forms of creative visual expression. These pieces should provide unique perspectives, convey compelling narratives, or offer new interpretations of cultural heritage through visual mediums.
Visual submissions must be accompanied by a brief note of intention, explaining the concept, the message behind the work, and its connection to cultural heritage. This note should help contextualise the artwork and provide insight into the creative process and vision.
All submissions must be completed by July 6th, 23:59.
The submission should not have been previously published or concurrently under consideration by another journal.
The Editing Guidelines and Style Sheet can be found here for your reference as you prepare your submission.
