From 12 to 15 October, the vibrant city of Brussels hosted the European Cultural Heritage Summit 2025, organised by Europa Nostra and co-funded by the European Union. Under the guiding motto “Heritage Matters for Europe”, the Summit highlighted how cultural heritage plays a vital role in shaping Europe’s political, societal, economic, and environmental future. Discussions explored how heritage can act as a catalyst for community resilience, sustainable growth, and a stronger European identity.
ESACH - the European Students’ Association for Cultural Heritage - was proudly present in Brussels to take part in this significant event, representing the voice of young heritage enthusiasts and professionals in training. The association’s participation underlined the importance of youth involvement in shaping Europe’s cultural policies and the value of intergenerational dialogue within the heritage sector.
Throughout the four days, ESACH members joined a rich programme of conferences, debates, and interactive sessions reflecting on the future of heritage in a rapidly changing world. The discussions and panel sessions were particularly insightful, offering a clearer understanding of the progress being made towards recognising culture and heritage as essential pillars of European identity, sustainable development and budget.
The Summit also celebrated outstanding achievements through the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards Ceremony, honouring projects that embody innovation, resilience, and community engagement
For ESACH, the Brussels Summit was an inspiring opportunity to connect with leading professionals and institutions and to reaffirm its commitment to promoting cultural heritage as a driver for social cohesion, creativity, and European unity.
